The Gospel and Grace
For the Man in the Dark
These are nine letters for the man in the dark. Not the man with a question about a verse. The man who is barely hanging on.
Each one takes a single hard night and sits in it: the prayer you cannot get out, the morning you cannot face, the silence where God used to be, the voice that tells you the people you love would be better off without you. No pep talks. No pretending it is small. Just the truth about where Christ is when a man reaches the end of himself.
If that is you right now, you do not have to read these in order, and you do not have to read them alone. Start with the one that has your name on it.

When God Goes Quiet
You pray and the ceiling does not move. A thought settles in: maybe He is done with me. But quiet is not absence, and the most faithful man who ever lived cried out into what felt like total silence. Here is why the silence is not the evidence against you that you think it is.

You Are Not Too Far Gone
It runs under everything, quiet and certain: grace is real, and God is good, for other people, not for me, not again. That sentence is a lie, and it is built on one wrong idea. You were never supposed to qualify. You are not too far gone.

The Prayer You Cannot Get Out
You go to pray and nothing comes. The tank is empty, and you add it to the list of things you are failing at. Put that down. The God you cannot reach built the whole thing knowing you would end up here with nothing to say, and He made a provision for this exact moment.

The Morning You Do Not Want to Get Up
You are awake, staring at the ceiling, and getting up feels like more than you have. There is a man in the Bible who was exactly here, fresh off the biggest victory of his life, and what God did for him will surprise you. He was kind to the man's dust before He said a word to his heart.

The Voice That Says They Would Be Better Off Without You
It does not scream. It speaks calmly, like it is on your side, and tells you the people you love would be better off if you were not here. I need to tell you exactly what that voice is, because naming it takes some of its power away. It is a lie, and the one telling it wants you gone.

God Is Not Disappointed in You
He is up there, arms crossed, slowly shaking His head. Every time you fail you imagine Him a little more let down. I want to take that picture off the wall, because it is not God. You built it out of somebody and hung His name on it. Here is His actual face.

When You Feel Nothing at All
You read the Bible and it lands like a manual. You sing and your chest stays empty. You are not sad, you are switched off, and you have decided it means your faith quietly died. It is built on a lie: that faith is a feeling. There is a page in God's own book with your exact condition on it.

Where Was God When It Happened
Something happened, and under the grief is a question you have not said out loud. You are angry at God. He could have stopped it. You buried it, because a good Christian is not allowed to be furious at God. Let me pull that up into the light, because burying it is doing more damage than the anger ever could.

Still Standing Is a Win
You are just getting through the day, hanging on by a thread, and somewhere you decided merely surviving is not really faith. Throw that scorecard out. Paul described a man taking hit after hit, and the word that keeps repeating is not. Struck down, but not destroyed. Still here is not the consolation prize.
