Terms & Conditions

Last updated: July 19, 2026

This is a writer's website. You can read everything on it for free, there is no account to make and nothing to buy. These terms are short because there is not much to govern.

Using the site means you accept what is on this page. If you do not, the fix is simple: close the tab, and nothing is held against you.

1This is not professional advice

I am a writer and a Christian, not a doctor, a therapist, a counsellor, a lawyer, or a financial advisor. Nothing here is medical advice, mental health treatment, legal advice, or financial advice, and none of it should be used in place of any of those.

I write about faith, about being a man, and about coming through hard things. I write about my own life and about what Scripture says. That is a different job from treatment, and I am not going to pretend the two are the same.

If you are struggling with your mental health, see a doctor or a licensed counsellor. Doing that is not a lack of faith, and you will find me saying so in the writing itself.

Reading this site does not create any professional relationship between us. Emailing me does not either.

2In an emergency, this site is the wrong place

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911.

If you are in crisis, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Veterans can dial 988 then press 1, or text 838255. You do not have to be enrolled in VA benefits or health care to connect.

I am one person and I do not monitor email around the clock. A message sent through this site may sit unread for days. It is not a crisis line and it cannot be used as one. Please use the numbers above instead, and use them first.

3Nothing is sold on this site

There is no shop, no cart, no subscription, and no payment of any kind on this site. There is nothing to cancel and no refund policy, because you were never charged.

My books are sold elsewhere, mainly on Amazon. When you follow a link and buy one, that purchase is between you and the retailer under their terms, and their returns policy applies, not anything on this page.

The gear I mention on What I Carry is there because I actually use it. If any of those links ever earns me a commission, I will say so on that page.

4The writing belongs to me

The posts, essays, books, prayers, artwork, and design on this site are mine and are protected by copyright.

You are welcome to quote a paragraph or two with my name on it and a link back. Read it aloud to your men's group. Print a post and hand it to somebody who needs it. That is what it is for and you do not need to ask.

What you may not do is republish a whole piece as your own, sell it, put it behind a paywall, feed the archive into a machine learning system for training, or scrape the site wholesale. If you want to reprint something in full, ask me. The answer is usually yes.

Scripture is quoted from the New American Standard Bible, 1995 edition, and belongs to its own publisher.

5What you send me

If you write to me, your words stay yours. I will not publish them, quote them in a post, or use your story in my writing without asking you first and getting a yes.

Do not send me anything confidential that you are not free to share, and do not send anything you would not want sitting in an ordinary email inbox.

I answer what I can. I cannot promise a reply to everything, and the volume is sometimes more than one man can keep up with.

6Links to other places

This site links out to booksellers, to crisis resources, to makers whose gear I use, and to other writers.

I do not control those sites and I am not responsible for what is on them or what they do with your information. A link is a recommendation of the thing I named, not a guarantee of everything on the far end.

7Availability and changes

The site is run by one person and can go down. I make no promise that it is available at any given moment.

I edit and sometimes remove posts. A piece you read here once may read differently later or may be gone. If a link matters to you, save the page.

These terms can change. The date at the top is how you tell.

8Where we might disagree

I hold positions that faithful Christians differ on, and I say what I hold rather than hedge. The What I Believe page lays it out.

Reading this site is not a statement of agreement, and disagreeing with me is not a problem. I would rather you read carefully, check it against Scripture yourself, and land where the text takes you. That is what the writing asks you to do anyway.

9The legal part

The site and everything on it is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. I do not guarantee that any of it is complete, current, or right for your situation.

To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or from anything you read here. Some places do not allow those limits, in which case they apply as far as they are permitted.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Dakota, United States. If one part of this page is found unenforceable, the rest still stands.

10Getting hold of me

[email protected], for anything on this page, including a copyright question or a request to reprint something.

See also the Privacy Policy and the Data Protection Policy.

This page sets out the terms for using the site. It is not legal advice, and I am not a lawyer.
