1Who runs this site

jakemccluskey.com is owned and operated by Jacob McCluskey, an author writing from North Dakota, United States. There is no company behind it and no staff.

For anything on this page, including a request to see or delete what is held about you, write to [email protected]. It reaches me directly.

2Information you choose to give me

There are four places on this site where you can type something. Each one behaves differently, so they are listed separately rather than lumped together.

The contact form asks for your name, your email address, and your message. That is sent to my inbox as an email. It is not saved to this site's database. Your address is attached so I can reply.

The newsletter sign-up asks for your email address only. It is stored in this site's database along with a note of which form you used and the date.

The pop-up on blog posts asks for your email address only. It is stored in this site's database, and it is also sent to GoHighLevel, the mailing service described in section 5. It records which post you were reading when you signed up.

The prayer builder asks for your email address so it can send the finished prayer to you. That prayer and that address are handed to the email service for delivery and are not stored on this site. I do not receive a copy and I do not read what you wrote.

Nothing on this site asks for your address, your phone number, your date of birth, or any payment information. There is nothing to buy here.

3Information collected automatically

Your IP address is read when you submit one of the forms. It is used only to count how many submissions have come from one place in the last few minutes, so the forms cannot be flooded. It is held in the server's memory, it is never written to the database, it is never written to a log, and it is discarded when the server restarts.

Like any website, this site is reached through a host and through your internet provider, and those companies see your IP address as a normal part of delivering the page. That is outside my control and outside this site's code.

Your email address is never written to my error logs. If something fails, the log records a masked version instead.

4Analytics, and the part most sites do not tell you

This site uses Microsoft Clarity to understand which pages people actually read. I want to be straight about what that tool does, because most privacy policies bury it.

Clarity does more than count visits. It records how a page is used: where the pointer moves, what is clicked, how far the page is scrolled, and how long is spent on it. Those recordings can be played back. It runs on every page of the live site.

Every place on this site where you can type something is deliberately hidden from it. The contact form, the prayer builder including the finished prayer, and both of the boxes that ask for your email address are all masked, so the recording never captures the words or your address.

Clarity sets its own cookies in your browser to tell one visit from another. Those cookies belong to Microsoft, not to me. Microsoft's own privacy statement covers what they do with what they collect.

There is currently no cookie banner on this site and no way to opt out from within the page. If you would rather not be included, a browser that blocks third-party scripts or trackers will stop Clarity from loading, and most browsers offer this.

5The services that handle this information

I do not sell or share your information for anyone else's marketing. It reaches four companies, each doing one job, and only the job named here.

Railway hosts the site and its database. Both are located in the United States.

Resend delivers email. It handles contact form messages on their way to my inbox, and prayers on their way back to the address you typed.

Microsoft Clarity provides the analytics and recording described in section 4.

GoHighLevel holds the mailing list. Only addresses given through the pop-up on blog posts reach it. Addresses from the newsletter form stay in this site's database.

Beyond those, information would only ever be handed over if the law required it.

6Artificial intelligence

Nothing you submit is ever sent to an AI model. Not your message, not your prayer, not your email address.

I do use AI tools behind the scenes to help me draft and edit my own writing. Those tools only ever see words I wrote. There is no path in this site's code that carries a visitor's text to one, and that is deliberate.

7Cookies and browser storage

This site sets exactly one cookie of its own, and only for me. It keeps me signed in to the private area where I write posts. An ordinary reader never receives it.

If you dismiss or complete the pop-up on a blog post, the site leaves one small note in your browser's local storage so it does not appear again. It stays in your browser, it is never sent to the server, and clearing your browser data removes it.

Microsoft Clarity sets its own cookies, as described in section 4.

8How long it is kept

Email addresses on the mailing list are kept until you ask me to remove them or until I clear them out. There is no automatic expiry.

Contact messages live in my email account and are kept as long as any other email, which means until I delete them.

Prayers are not kept at all. Once the email is sent, this site has no copy.

This domain previously hosted a different business of mine. If any old records from that time remain in the database, they are not used for anything, and the same request to be removed applies to them.

9Your choices, and how to be removed

You can ask me what is held about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Write to [email protected] and say which. I will do it and tell you when it is done.

There is currently no unsubscribe link built into this site. Email me and I will take you off, which on a list this size is a faster answer than a form.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. If you write and tell me which right you are exercising, I will honour it.

I have never sold anyone's personal information and have no plans to.

10Children

This site is written for adults, mostly for men. It is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has sent me something, write to me and I will delete it.

11Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection. The private area is password protected, its session cookie cannot be read by scripts in the browser, and the keys used to reach outside services are stored encrypted rather than in plain text.

That said, nobody can promise perfect security, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. What I can promise is that this site collects as little as it can get away with, which is the only protection that always holds.

12Changes to this policy

If what this site does changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top changes too. There is no mailing list announcement for a policy edit, so the date is how you tell.
